Pranjal’s work is a quiet rebellion against the idea that folk art must be rustic or unpolished. In 'The Watchful Hand,' the artist takes the protective Hamsa motif—a symbol deeply rooted in the folk visual language of the subcontinent—and refines it through a lens of contemporary precision. The background is not a flat wash, but a deep, textured cobalt that feels like the night sky, scattered with the gold of distant stars and the geometry of white triangles. The hand itself is rendered in a warm, bone-white, its fingers adorned with the diamond-lattice patterns characteristic of Madhubani tradition, yet executed with the sharp, unbroken lines of a fine-liner. At the center, the eye is not a simple shape but a focal point of intense, serene gaze, framed by a halo of geometric detail. It is a piece that balances the weight of ancient symbolism with the lightness of modern design.
